Work Place

Chemists typically work indoors in climate-controlled laboratories and offices. Those who work for manufacturing companies may have to travel occasionally, especially if their company has multiple facilities. Chemists are often exposed to hazardous conditions, including contaminants, so they must wear protective or safety equipment. They communicate with others, primarily through email and in face-to-face discussions. Accuracy is especially important in this occupation since mistakes could cause a great deal of harm. Chemists typically work full time and keep regular hours; however, some also work more than 40 hours each week.
