Work Place

Nurse anesthetists work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. They participate in face-to-face discussions every day, often with members of their medical team. Much of their work puts them at least within an arm's length of patients. Since they are exposed to contagious diseases on a regular basis, they must wear safety equipment like masks and latex gloves. While nurse anesthetists have a fair amount of freedom in making decisions, their work must be accurate because mistakes could result in a patient's injury or loss of life. Most nurse anesthetists work full time, and their schedules depend on their work setting.
