Audiologists usually work in climate-controlled offices. They spend a lot of time in face-to-face discussions with clients and healthcare professionals. Email and telephone communications are also typical parts of their workday. Audiologists have a fair amount of freedom to make decisions about their work and do make decisions on a daily basis. Those who work on a contract basis may spend a lot of time traveling. For example, an audiologist who contracts with a school system may have to travel between different schools to provide services. Most audiologists work full time. Some work weekends and evenings to meet patients' needs.
