Work Place

MRI technologists almost always work indoors in comfortable air temperatures. Every day they work in settings where the noise levels are distracting or uncomfortable and where they may be exposed to disease or infections. MRI technologists are often responsible for the health and safety of others. On a typical workday, they use their hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools, or controls. They spend a great deal of their workdays communicating by phone or in face-to-face discussions. These workers may experience stress due to extensive time pressure. Accuracy is extremely important in this work because making mistakes could have serious consequences for patient health. Many MRI technologists work full time.
